Leftie Kyusu
A kyusu is a Japanese-style teapot with the handle on the side rather than along the top. Due to the asymmetrical nature of this form, they tend to be made for right-handed users who grasp the handle with their right hand and support the lid of the pot with their left. As a leftie myself, I’ve made it my personal mission to help fill the gap with these left-handed teapots.
Teapots are notoriously difficult objects to make well, being thrown from multiple parts that must be precisely engineered. A quality teapot should have a well-fitting lid, a comfortable handle, and a spout that pours a clean stream and cuts water without dribbles. This pot exhibits all of these qualities. It is a smaller teapot of about 5oz suited for an individual serving of green tea, where water is replenished multiple times to draw out the deeper flavors of the tea leaves. A built-in tea strainer allows for leaves to be placed directly in the body of the pot.
